Ponderings From the PA
June is a month that is noted for many events and traditions. It has the celebration of Flag Day and Father’s Day, it used to be the most popular month for weddings, and it contains the longest day of the year. From this month until December, each day will contain less daylight.
Before LED lights, we were dependent on daylight to accomplish many tasks. Our nation’s adoption of daylight savings time was to allow more waking time during daylight hours. It always seemed strange to me that we really thought you could “save” time.
What do you intend to do with all this daylight that is bestowed upon you this month? Will you have more patio gatherings? Will you give more care to your garden? Will you enjoy more time watching your kids play their favorite sport? Or will this gift of more daylight go unnoticed, unused and uncelebrated?
“This is the DAY that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24). What will you do to celebrate each day and acknowledge the gift you have been given?
