What to Expect on a Sunday Morning
Bower Hill Community Church is Handicapped Accessible and has an Assistive Listening System with headphones or a T-coil neck loop.
Worship service – 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
We are located on Moffett Street off of Bower Hill Road near Jefferson Middle and Elementary School.
Need a ride to worship? The deacons would like to provide a ride to worship for members who need one. you find yourself in need of a ride, you may call your parish deacon prior to Sunday to arrange a ride. Not sure who to call? Contact the church office for assistance.
When you arrive
Park in the north lot or south lot. The building with the highest steeple is the sanctuary. There are many entrances that can be used to get to the sanctuary. The Contact page has directions and floor plans may be helpful in orienting you to our building. For handicapped parking, enter the north parking lot (farthest from Bower Hill road), go to end of parking lot, turn right. Follow the short drive behind the church to a small parking lot. The handicapped accessible door is on the right side of the main building. Go in the door, turn right, then left, and in about 50 feet the sanctuary will be on your right. You do not need to have a handicapped tag to park in the handicapped area. Anyone who has difficulties doing the stairs or walking is encouraged to use this area.
You will probably be greeted at various entrances by friendly people (we call them greeters) who will say hello, answer any questions you may have, and can direct you to the sanctuary.
Your children are welcome to stay with you at the worship service or attend the first part of worship and then attend Christian Education classes. Child care for infants-toddler is available in our nursery during the Worship Service and Christian Education. The nursery is near the sanctuary. Any member would be glad to direct you the nursery.
Before the worship service
An usher will greet you and hand you a bulletin as you enter the sanctuary.
Ask the usher for a set of head phones to use the assistive listening system if hearing is an issue.
The worship service – 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
A typical service lasts about 60 minutes and includes a call to worship, prayer, singing, scripture reading, children’s time, sermon (approximately 20 minutes), congregational sharing time, offering, and benediction.
A variety of music is included in a service with songs in the bulletin or in the hymnals in the pews.
All classes during worship meet downstairs in rooms near the church office. The 3rd – 5th graders meet in room 105. This class will still take place the full duration of the worship service, so kids will go directly to room 105 on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. Parents should pick up their children in that room following worship.
Children preschool (potty-trained) through second grade will begin in worship. Following the Children’s Sermon, kids will be escorted to Children’s Worship. We will use the Children’s Worship Space (classroom 103). Children will have their very own worship experience, learning Bible stories through seeing, hearing, and performing hands-on activities. Parents should pick up their children in the classroom after worship.
Grades 6 and up are invited to remain in worship at 9:30 a.m. with their families.
When the worship service is over
Be prepared for people to introduce themselves to you. Many in the congregation enjoy meeting new people.
Fellowship Time – 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
After the service most members go to the Fellowship Hall for coffee and conversation. Children in Sunday School join their families during this time.

Children’s Activity Time – For the children this is an informal time of songs, fun and games in the Lounge. This allows the parents to attend the Adult Education class.
