Our purpose has remained constant through the years – to provide support and care to church members. Each Deacon is responsible for one of twelve “care groups,” contacting members of the church throughout the year and offering support when needed.
The members of this elected board are the structured expression of care to the members.
Deacons of Bower Hill Community Church meet the 3rd Monday at 7:00 pm in the Lounge.

Ministry at the Time of Loss
We support the families of members who have passed away. The deacons help with the receptions following memorial services. We continue to give the loved ones a personalized remembrance card and a four part book series on grief space throughout that first year.
Responsible Deacon: Doris Olinger, Anne Mitchell, Josie Sheldon.
Feed My Sheep
Betsy Hohlfelder contacts members who might appreciate meals due to illness, recuperation, death in the family, new baby, etc. Please contact her (email@example.com) if you would like to add your name to the list of willing cooks.
Responsible Deacon: Betsy Hohlfelder
With the help of the church secretary, Cynthia Gissin organizes the sanctuary flowers. When donors request live flowers, a Deacon delivers them to members who should be remembered. A silk arrangement is used when the donor has made a monetary donation to a mission project of their choice.
Responsible Deacon: Cynthia Gissin
Ordering of flowers and arrangement of Easter flowers, Pentecost geraniums and Christmas. At Christmas in lieu of live flowers a Christmas Remembrance in honor or memory of a loved one is offered.
Responsible Deacon: Melissa Harman, Nancy Green
Deacons organize a diaper shower for members with recently born babies.
Responsible Deacon: Phyllis Madden, Melissa Harmon
Once again the Board remembered members who either are unable to attend church services or could use a little TLC. Sweet breads or cards are delivered as a “thinking of you” gesture.
Responsible Deacon: Mary Gorski, Nancy Green
Provide a Ride
The deacons will organize rides to church services and activities for any member who requests them. Please contact Karen Reynolds in the church office if you are in need of a ride or are willing to provide one.
