The Allegheny Intermediary Unit/DART (Discovery, Assessment, Referral and Tracking) Program provides early intervention services for eligible young children, ages 3 through 5, who have developmental delays or disabilities. The DART Program provides in-depth assessment aimed at identifying a child’s individual strengths and needs, and recommends and provides appropriate early intervention services. A staff of educators, therapists, medical personnel, social workers and psychologists delivers services to preschoolers with special needs and their families. Services may include developmental, speech/language, occupational therapy, physical therapy, vision, hearing and family services.
The Bower Hill Community Church provides classroom space for the DART Program for children to be screened and evaluated. One classroom is used for speech services and the other is used as a preschool classroom. The preschool classroom services children with special needs and children with no developmental delays.
