Linda James, Chair — Adult Education Committee
As the Adult Education Committee met to plan for the new year, they were pleased with receiving 31 surveys which helped with the program planning. This year’s theme will be Year of Justice. Our Biblical focus will be Micah 6: 8—“And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
We will begin on September 9, 10:45-11:45 a.m., in the Friendship Room following worship. Our first session will focus on Family Promise, led by Jean Miewald. Along with giving us an overview of Family Promise, we will also begin the mandatory training for those folks working with Family Promise. On September 16, we will begin the DVD Study, “Living the Questions – Countering Pharoah’s Production – Consumption Society Today.” On September 23, Pastor Snyder will lead us using a DVD from the Chautauqua Institution, which focuses on a presentation by Bari Weiss, “The New Seven Dirty Words.” Ms. Weiss is a writer and editor for the New York Times Opinion Section where she writes about culture and politics.
Childcare and/or programming is provided for children and youth up to and including high school during this time.
On September 30, there will be no Adult Education. The congregation will gather for the next Talking About Tomorrow session.
We believe this is an exciting year of programming and hope you can join us!
