Did You Know? Kristen Mackey Recognized By Mt. Lebanon School Board

The Mt. Lebanon School Board recently recognized Kristen Mackey and Washington Elementary, the school where she works as a reading specialist. Each year, the Division of Federal Programs honors the top performing Title I schools in Pennsylvania, and Washington Elementary has been designated as a 2018-2019 Title I Distinguished Schools. These schools are considered High Achievement Schools and are among the top 5% performing Title I Schools in the Commonwealth for both English Language Arts and Math. Kristen was recognized for her work as a Title 1 teacher and reading specialist. School board president Mike Reimer writes: “Kristen is a caring, encouraging, and welcoming teacher who has been with the district since 2004. Her current teaching assignment at Washington Elementary is focused on students who require extra support to develop early reading skills. As a reading specialist, she helps develop skills that are foundational to future reading success.” Kristen also shares her gifts of teaching as a Children’s Worship volunteer here at Bower Hill.
