On December 8th, a group of 7 members of Bower Hill Community Church braved the cold and hiked the Wingfield Pines Restoration Area. We were able to see the repairs being made to restore the Abandoned Mine Drainage (AMD) treatment system back to working order. Although the scenery was not a pretty as in the summer, we were able to see areas normally covered by vegetation. We hiked the trail along Chartiers Creek to Bridgeville’s Chartiers Park and in the opposite direction to the bridge just pass the USC Recreational Center that crosses Chartiers Creek. The walk encompassed 3-4 miles.
