The Mission Committee has a fund called Mission Facilitation. This provides funding for mission opportunities outside of our usual giving.
In the middle of February, we learned that four families from Afghanistan had moved into the Carriage Park Apartments in Greentree and needed help with all those little things that make a kitchen work, and they needed them now. By using the Mission Facilitation fund, we were able to supply two of the families with just about everything, besides appliances that they would need, from dish soap to wooden spoons, strainers, knives, and stockpots. Each family received four shopping bags of kitchen stuff to help them settle into their new homes. Special thanks to Darenda Lease for being our shopper.
