Mission & Outreach Committee Update

Members of BHCC actively participate in many mission projects throughout the year. These include but are not limited to: hosting Family Promise families for a week, traveling to Haiti as part of our water purification project, and growing organic produce in Sandi’s Garden for SHIM’s food pantry.

But, did you know that your pledging also supports mission and outreach organizations beyond BHCC? This year our mission budget supports the following groups: Presbyterian Mission Treasury, Family Promise, Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, Brother’s Brother Foundation, East Liberty Family Health Center, Neighborhood Academy, South Hills Interfaith Movement, Hekima Place, Pittsburgh Project, and Bread for the World. In addition, each year we budget funds for what we call Mission Facilitation. These funds provide support for members of the congregation to participate in mission projects. So far this year, Mission Facilitation has funded members who participated in the Pittsburgh Project’s One Day Plunge with our youth. If there is a mission project in which you would like to participate that requires a fee or for which materials are needed, please contact any member of the Mission and Outreach Committee.
