This month will be different for many. Though the whole year has been quite different, the month of November will be most unlike previous years. Turkey farmers are seeking to harvest smaller birds, and even grocery stores are cutting back on the staples that are usually in high demand.
With the virus still dominating our daily routines, the celebration of Thanksgiving will not be as robust as in the past. There will be people missing from our table. It will be a potential time of sadness if we focus on what we do not have. Unfortunately, most of the unfulfilled wishes are beyond our control.
Why not try something new this year that is in keeping with the season? If we would pause each day in November to be thankful for a different person in our life, think what a blessing it would be. We could offer a prayer of thanksgiving, send a “thinking of you” card or call them on the phone. At the end of the month, we would have accumulated at least thirty affirmations of people that we are so grateful to call friends. Even better if you could do more than one a day!
I am grateful for each of you as Bower Hill Community Church has been such a blessing for me and my family. I miss each one of you, but am so thankful I have come to know you on our mutual path to follow the Christ!
