About The Event
The Library Book
by Susan Orlean
November Book-Worms Meeting Includes Outside Speaker
The November 22nd church bookworms Zoom meeting will discuss the book – Library Book. Award winning author Susan Orlean “weaves her lifelong love of books and reading into an investigation of the April 28, 1986, fire at the Los Angeles Public Library.”
“The author not only chronicles the fire and its aftermath she showcases the larger, crucial role that libraries play in our lives; delves into the evolution of libraries across the count and around the world and brings each department of the library into vivid life.”
Reading Library Book prompted questions about our own library system. How did it get started and how does it work? Who did we turn to for answers, but our local Mt. Lebanon library and they came through as usual.
Eric Meisburger, the Mt. Lebanon Library Public Services Librarian will start the November meeting by talking about the Allegheny County library system and then addressing questions. Who knows what stories he’ll tell! This will be followed by a discussion of the book.
Not able to read the book? No problem. Join us from 1:00 to 1:30 pm for Eric Meisburger’s talk. All are welcome to stay for the book discussion as well. The meeting will run until 2:30 pm.
There is no limit to the number of people who can attend. However, you do need to let Linda James know if you are attending so that she can send you the Zoom link the morning of the meeting.
