Get Outdoors – October 1 – GAP Trail

The hike for this month will be a section of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP). We will start at The Pump House and follow the Monongahela river. About halfway into the hike we will use the Whitaker Flyover to take us over railroad tracks. The trail continues below hills of Whitaker. We will hike until we are at Kennywood park. At his point, we will be at the lowest level of the Thunderbolt and Phantom’s Revenge. We will then return back on the trail to our cars. This hike will be relatively flat on a mostly paved bike path with a total length of 5 miles.

We will meet at 9:00 a.m. in the main parking lot and carpool to the hike. The trailhead is about a 30 minute drive. We will limit the hike 2 hours. So, it will about 12:00 p.m. when we return.
