Get Outdoors – September 10 – Seldom Seen

The hike for this month will be trails in the Beechview Seldom Seen Greenway. How can you resist a hike with “Seldom Seen” in the name. We will start by doing the Seldom Seen Greenway Loop which is short trail that starts at a city of Pittsburgh Salt Dome on Saw Mill Run Blvd. It may not be the most scenic start. But the trail includes the Seldom Seen Arch - a beautiful old brick tunnel and historic landmark that was constructed in 1902 and a small waterfall. We will take a short drive to Seldom Seen Greenway Pipeline Trail. This hike will have some moderately steep sections. This is one of those short hikes on trails you don’t realize exist until someone tells you about it.

We will meet at 9:00 a.m. in the main parking lot and carpool to the hike. The trailhead is about a 20 minute drive. We will limit the hike 2 hours. So, it will about 12:00 p.m. when we return.
