EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED
with Elijah Wood, PG13, 2005
In the early 2000s, a young Jewish man (Elijah Wood) travels to Ukraine to learn about his grandfather's life during World War II and the Holocaust. This comic film deals with serious themes of time, guilt, rootlessness, identity, and our shared connection to the past. Parents: While there are no explicitly violent or sexually graphic scenes, there is a small amount of profanity. Also, one character dies by suicide--the depiction is not shocking, but it is a heavy topic. Also, it contains a few flashbacks of the Holocaust with implications of violence.
