About The Event

For our fourth Lenten movie selection, we will be watching MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF THE LAST DECADE. It tells the true story of Franz Jagerstatter, an Austrian farmer who was drafted to serve the Nazi cause in World War II but who refused on religious grounds to make an oath of loyalty to Hitler. This flick has a positive message about resisting authoritarianism and hate even when they become normalized by society.  One critic writes, "This is a beautiful film well worth the absurdly long three hours it takes to watch."  It contains no sex, no profanity, no drugs, and very little on-screen violence.  However, it does deal with heavy themes of social capitulation to evil, and it might move a little too slowly to hold the attention of most children.  We bring you....
