On October 10, 2026, a group of 3 members of Bower Hill Community Church hiked trails in Frick Park. Since one of our goals was to see the new commercial street bridge, we drove down Commercial Street and parked within 100 feet of the bridge. While the new bridge is in place there is still a lot of landscaping underneath the bridge to complete. Standing underneath it’s impressive that they were able to move a bridge that size to put in place. Next, we started up Nine Mile Run trail which follows the creek. We followed it until the trail dead ended in Regent Square at S. Braddock Ave near the parkway exit. We found what we believe we old trolley tracks at the end of the trail. Also, we walked down to the creek to find a large concrete opening which carries the water under S. Braddock Ave. The opening was large enough to stand but we didn’t explore where it went. We backtracked a short distance then took Braddock Trail which runs along a ridge. At the end, we came to the clay tennis courts and headed down to the valley. At the bottom, we turned right onto the Tranquil Trail. After a short distance, we came to the reconstructed Fern Hollow Bridge. We turned around and walked down the trail and turned on to Falls Ravine Trail, which is true to its name is that is it is a ravine with a small stream. We veered off the trail onto the Lower Riverview Trail and finally to the Firelane trail and back to the car. It was a great fall day to get outdoors.
