Back in the 1950’s, when Bower Hill Community Church first became a congregation, hats were frequently part of the attire at worship services.
In honor of that long ago tradition an anonymous donor offered to pay $10 per hat worn at the Easter service held this year on April 20th.
Our donor allowed us to play if fast and loose with the types of hats that were worn. The members who participated wore all types of hats-there were traditional hats, baseball caps, a visor and even an elf hat!
The official count was 52 hats, but our anonymous donor rounded up and donated $600 towards the upcoming 75th Anniversary celebrations!
We are grateful to all the members who participated by wearing hats on Easter and particularly want to thank our anonymous donor.
It takes a generous person to donate to the 75th anniversary funds and it takes a creative person to come up with an idea that makes it a fun throwback to history and gets the whole congregation involved.
