SHIM Garden Harvest Update

As the sunlight begins to fade earlier in the evening and frost is in the air, the 2026 garden season is fast coming to a close. Overall, it was a very plentiful year thanks to some extended sunny fall days, and we are grateful for all the harvest that came from the garden. This year we donated nearly 6,300 peppers for a total of 300 pounds!!! These all went to needy families looking for fresh produce and spicy peppers. I can’t tell you how appreciative the folks at SHIM were.
Also, it was an enormous effort to get the new garden constructed and ready for next year’s planting. It truly took a village to accomplish all that we did this year, and it was a great way to “let our light shine” and celebrate our 75 anniversary. We are looking forward to next spring and getting both gardens up and
running. There will be plenty of opportunities to assist with prep, planting and harvesting next year, so stay tuned.
