Backpacks -- for Back to School!

Bower Hill Community Church got back in gear to fill 75 backpacks for children in Crafton and Carnegie elementary schools. We donated $750 to purchase supplies for backpacks provided by the Salvation Army. In addition to school supplies, we provided books from our Flea Market stash and items donated by the Mt. Lebanon Public Library. Books for slightly older elementary children were used to supply the "Book Nooks" outside the respective schools. This was a joint mission activity of Bower Hill and the New Hope Worship Center of Carnegie Presbyterian. Volunteers from both churches participated. The backpacks were dedicated recently at New Hope before an excited group of kids!

We are also working with New Hope Worship Center in helping stock the Carnegie Free Fridge, an activity in which six Bower Hill families have already participated. Stay tuned as well for a possibly monthly carry out dinner program the two congregations are envisioning. More to come . . .
