Get Outdoors - White Oak Park - September 6, 2025

On September 6, 2025, 2 members of Bower Hill hiked the trails in the county park, White Oaks Park. As we arrived at the parking area for the green trail, we discovered we were in the midst of a 5K race. We drove to the other side of the park and decided to do the blue, yellow and red trails. The trail started in a meadow, but we quickly entered the woods. We noticed how little underbrush was growing. Most of the forest floor was covered by grass/fern like plants or by the leaves of trees. We enjoyed the many large trees and mushrooms growing on them. The weather was great for hiking, and the many switchbacks made the hill quite reasonable.
