Ponderings from the Parish Associate - December 2024

GIFTS

It is that time of year when we begin to wonder about gifts. Depending on your age and circumstances your focus is either on getting or giving. As a child I remember asking my parents if they thought Aunt Nan would give me socks and pajamas? Obviously, these were not gifts I had any real appreciation receiving. When we get a little older, we begin to appreciate how difficult it is to select appropriate gifts for adult children and especially grandchildren.

The church usually provides an opportunity for us to give gifts for those who may be forgotten.

However, have we ever really considered the greatest gift we have already received? The son of the most high born in a lowly stable has given us the gifts of redemption, hope and unconditional love. Yes, Jesus loves us, all of us, and there is nothing we can do about it!
